He promised to allocate a bigger portion of the national budget towards improving sugar cane growing in Busoga sub-region.

"We shall establish an agricultural bank. Over 70% of our population is in agriculture, but they can not grow and commercialise if they borrow from commercial banks at their rates. Farmers need financing at lower rates, and also with longer repayment periods,"he said.

Muntu promised to increase the budget allocation for agriculture from the current 3.8% to 10%.

"At the moment, the president's office and State House have a higher allotment than the agricultural sector! This is not a reflection of how important agriculture is to our country and economy,"he said.

Muntu rallied residents in Iganga district for change noting that the regime cannot push the country ahead due to what he called collapsed institutions.

"Our industrialisation strategy will ensure that the bulk of initial processing is done close to extraction sites, and this will provide employment opportunities for the youth in these communities,"he noted.

In between campaign meetings, Muntu officially opened the Iganga ANT coordination office, and met a few of the party candidates in the region.

He reassured them that they made the right choice to join the party and pledged his and the party's support.

Muntu also promised to restore term limits, and build a culture of peaceful transition.
